The use of sports as a tool for health promotion and personal development has been documented by various scholars as effective and holistic in nature. Sports activities do enhance young people’s ability to set goals, build confidence, learn appropriate decision making techniques and above all have positive interactions with other adolescents (Adams & Berzonsky, 2006). This approach does not only lead to change of health compromising behavior but it also teaches adolescents values, attitudes and knowledge necessary to lead a meaningful life. As part of the community initiatives, the International Health Sciences University has embarked on a project that will use sports activities to promote health among adolescents in Makindye Division.
